Looking for a Candy AI Alternative? A Like for Like Comparison
By The Fellowi Team · · 7 min read

Most comparison pages are adverts with a table attached. This one is closer to a like for like check, because the two products genuinely overlap: both sell companions you chat with, and both sell generated pictures on top. So every claim about them below was read on their own public pages on 24 September 2026, starting from their homepage, and where a page did not say something, we did not fill the gap from memory or from someone else's review.
What their pages say, as of 24 September 2026
- Plans. Their subscriptions page lists three terms of the same premium plan: one month at $13.99, three months at $8.99 a month ($26.97 billed), and twelve months at $3.99 a month ($47.88 billed). Prices were shown to us in US dollars and may display differently where you are.
- What premium includes. The same page lists creating your own companions, images and videos for people of legal age, a "live action" experience, unlimited text messages and 100 tokens per month.
- Free use. Their homepage offers a free trial, and their terms of service say a free user "may generally send a maximum of 5 messages".
- Tokens. The terms say tokens are used for "extended features like image generation or voice notes", must be used within their billing period, and expire when the subscription is cancelled. We could not find the number of tokens one image or one video costs on any public page; the token shop sits behind sign in.
- Rules. Their community guidelines require users to be 18 or over and prohibit content involving minors, non consensual intimate imagery and images that resemble real people.
What they do better
Voice. Their homepage talks about companions answering with "words, voices, visuals, or full-on video", and the terms mention voice notes. Fellowi has no voice at all. If hearing a reply matters to you, that settles it in their favour.
One plan, everything unlocked. On every one of their paid terms, text messages are unlimited and you can create your own companion. Fellowi's entry plan caps messages and does not include creating a companion; both come with the higher plans. Their approach is simpler to understand, and we will not pretend otherwise.
The long term discount. Their yearly term is advertised at 70% off the monthly price. If you already know you will stay for a year, that is a strong offer, and you should compare it against our own yearly price rather than against our monthly one.
Chat plan against chat plan
Our current prices, message allowances and terms live on the Fellowi product facts page, which reads them from the code that charges them, so they cannot drift from what you actually pay. Put the plan you would really buy next to the term you would really buy on their side: a month against a month, a year against a year. Note which of ours has unlimited messages, because the entry one does not.
The free end differs more clearly. Their terms describe a handful of free messages; ours is a trial with its own message and photo allowance, no card needed, and both figures are on the same product page. Compare the two numbers directly and decide how much of a first evening you want before paying.
Their tokens against our coins
This is the comparison that matters most for pictures, and the one we can only half make. Their tokens arrive with the subscription each month. Our coins are bought separately, in one time packs, with no subscription at all, and they do not expire with time. Their tokens end when the billing period does, or when you cancel. If you generate in bursts, that difference alone can decide it.
The missing half is price per output. Our coin cost for one image and for one clip is published on the product page, and a generation that fails is refunded in coins. Their public pages do not say how many tokens an image or a video takes, so a picture for picture price is not something we can state honestly. If you find their figure inside the app, compare it against Fellowi Images for stills and Fellowi Video for clips.
Memory, languages and the rules
Memory. Their homepage says a companion "picks up on your preferences, tone, and interests" as you chat. That is a description of behaviour, not of a mechanism, and we cannot test it from outside. Ours keeps durable notes plus rolling summaries, and you can open the list and delete from it; the details are in how AI companion memory works.
Languages. Their homepage mentions English and a "fully localized French version", with "more languages coming soon", yet their sitemap already lists thirteen language sections, including Spanish, Italian and Portuguese, which Fellowi does not offer. Whether their companions also chat in all of those, the pages do not say. Fellowi runs in eleven languages, among them Russian, Ukrainian, Korean and Czech, which their sitemap does not list, and a companion replies in the language you write in; see chatting in your own language.
Rules. Here the two sides mostly agree. Both are for adults only, and both refuse anything involving minors or non consent. Fellowi's adult conversation happens with the companions in its legal-age category; the others stay non explicit by design.
How to choose
- You want to hear a voice. Them.
- You want one price with everything unlocked and plan to stay a year. Probably them, but check our yearly price first.
- You generate pictures now and then and hate credits that expire. Us.
- You write in Russian, Ukrainian, Korean or Czech. Us. In Spanish, Italian or Portuguese, look at theirs.
We have run the same kind of check on two other products, in an honest side by side with Nomi.ai and what to compare before leaving Replika. For a checklist that works on any app, ours included, read what to check before you pay for an AI companion.
Questions this post answers
What does Candy AI do better than Fellowi?
Voice, first of all: their pages describe voice notes and voice replies, and Fellowi has no voice feature at all. Their paid plan also includes unlimited text messages and creating your own companion on every term, while Fellowi's entry plan caps messages and leaves companion creation to the higher plans.
Are Candy AI tokens the same thing as Fellowi coins?
They pay for similar things, but they behave differently. According to their terms as of 24 September 2026, tokens come with a subscription, must be used within the billing period and expire when you cancel; Fellowi coins are a one time purchase with no subscription and do not expire with time.
Which one is cheaper for images?
We cannot say honestly, because their public pages do not state how many tokens one image or one video costs. Our coin cost per image and per clip is on the Fellowi product facts page, so once you know their figure you can compare picture for picture.
