A Civitai Alternative, for People Who Just Want the Picture

People compare these two a lot, and the comparison is usually unfair in both directions, because they are not the same kind of product. One is a model marketplace with a community attached. The other is a studio with a small set of models chosen for you. Judging either by the other's strengths tells you nothing.

So this is an attempt at the fair version. Everything below about their side was checked on their own public pages on 21 September 2026. Pricing changes without telling us, so if you are reading this much later, go and look: their pricing page is the source, not us.

The first difference is the shape of the payment

Their model is a membership. The public tiers on that page are Bronze at 10 dollars a month, Silver at 25 and Gold at 50, and each grants a monthly allowance of their credit, called Buzz: 10,000, 25,000 and 50,000 respectively, along with a set of creator perks. There is also, in their own words, a perks-only membership you can buy with Buzz if you are short on cash.

Ours is not a membership. You buy coins, they stay in your wallet, and they come out when you generate. There is no monthly floor, nothing lapses because you had a quiet month, and nothing about generating requires a subscription at all.

Which is cheaper depends entirely on how much you generate, and here is the honest part: we are not going to quote you a price per image on their side, because the Buzz cost of a generation there varies with the model and the settings you pick. Any single number we printed would be a number we chose to make ourselves look good. Our own coin costs are on the product page, read straight from the code that charges, and you can do the arithmetic against whatever their current rate is for the work you actually do.

The second difference is where adult work happens

This one is worth stating plainly because it is the reason many people search for an alternative in the first place. As of the date above, their pricing page itself carries the line that unrestricted content creation has moved to a separate domain of theirs. Two sites, two places, one of them clearly partitioned off.

On Fellowi it is one account and one studio. Adult generation is not a separate product or a separate address, it is the same Fellowi Images and the same Fellowi Video everyone else uses.

That is not the same as saying anything goes, and we would rather you heard the limits from us than discovered them. Prompts referencing minors, and prompts about sexual violence, are refused outright, and refused before any money moves, which we explained in what a failed generation actually costs you. Those limits do not move for anyone. What we do not have is a general adult partition: there is one door.

What they do better, and it is not close

The library. Thousands of community models and fine-tunes, the ability to train your own on your own material, and a genuine community sitting around all of it with challenges, articles and a shop. If the exact model is part of your craft, if you have a favourite fine-tune whose look you have learned, or if you want to train something on your own images, that is an entire capability we simply do not offer, and no amount of arguing about pricing changes it.

That breadth is also what you are paying the membership for. A marketplace has to be a marketplace: it earns its keep by having everything, and a recurring membership is a reasonable way to fund that.

What we are better at

The absence of choosing. Fellowi ships a small curated set of models, picked so that you do not have to evaluate a leaderboard before you can start. You write a prompt, pick a quality and an aspect ratio, and go. For a lot of people the model list is not a feature, it is homework, and removing it is the product.

Then three smaller things. A failed generation refunds itself automatically, so the unit of cost is a finished picture rather than an attempt. Commercial use carries no separate licence, no revenue share and no attribution requirement, which we wrote up in commercial use of AI images. And there is a whole other half of the product next door: companions you can actually talk to, which no model marketplace is trying to be.

So which one

It really does come down to one question: is choosing the model part of the work you want to do?

If yes, go and enjoy the marketplace. You will get more control than we can give you, a library we cannot match and a community to learn from, and the monthly membership is the price of that.

If no, if what you want is to describe a picture and receive it without first developing an opinion about checkpoints, then a curated studio with no subscription is the better fit, and that is the one we built. One last thing, said against our own interest: if you already have a workflow you like over there, a library of your own fine-tunes and prompts that land, switching costs you more than you will save. Comparison posts rarely say that, and it is true more often than they admit.
